Taproot Law

A comprehensive redesign of the Taproot Law website, meticulously developed through extensive user research and collaborative meetings with stakeholders
Timeline: 12 weeks
My role: Lead Researcher
Taking a Look at the Current Site:

Unintelligible text: Letters are not spaced far enough, making it difficult to read text.
Lack of Proffessionalism: The chaotic layout and overly personalized design creates an unprofessional look.
Poor visual hierarchy: Elements are scattered, with no clear direction. User may struggle navigating the site.

Poor Communication: A user using this site for the first time, with no idea what Taproot is, would be confused as to what services they provide. Goals are not clearly communicated.

Discovering User Needs
Data Collection Methods:

-
SME Interview- A law expert was invited to be interviewed about Taproot Law's site due to her knowledge and experience with law firms and legal support services.
-
Surveys- Google surveys were used to collect the user-experiences of 40 different subjects.
Concerns:
The professional's main concern with the site was the lack of content organization. "I'm a bit overwhelmed by the amount of information just thrown at me on the homepage. I feel like I am looking at everything and nothing at once."

Another concern was lack of readability, as she expressed her difficulty reading the text and visually navigating through the site.
Survey Results
Question: “First impression of the website: Can you understand the website’s purpose?”

Some responses:
“Some kind of organization with the idea of ‘Green Earth’”
“No, it is confusing, seems like it functions in many different ways”
“Mostly. I was expecting the homepage to tell me what type of law Taproot practices.”
“Environmental law services”
Majority of the participants recognized what Taproot is, however some weren’t entirely sure.

Question: “On a scale of 1-5, how easy is it to navigate the website?"

Over 50% of participants rated the site's usability a 1 or 2 out of 5 (5 being the best). This data proves that the site's layout is non-accessible and dificult to navigate.
Website Redesign
Redesign Goals:
After carefully analyzing and collecting data from users about Taproot Law's website, it was determined that the main issues needed to be addressed are professionality and usability.
By achieving these goals, Taproot Law will not only project a more professional and respectable image but will also offer a more user-friendly experience for those seeking their services.
Homepage Redesign

This far more simple and straightforward homepage adequately introduces the Taproot Law brand without overwhelming its users. In only a few sentences, Taproot's goals, services, and location are made clear.

The previous font is replaced with a readable, evenly spaced-out font, increasing the site's accessibility.

Taproot's values are clearly communicated through straightforward, impactful graphics. A well-defined visual hierarchy guides readers effortlessly through the site.
